These photos all show a low-impact (low ground pressure) excavator that can sometimes be used in Arundo eradication projects. The excavator, which is able to remove the entire root system, is 98% effective according to the company that developed it, Aquatic Environemnts of Alamo, California. The excavator offers the advantages of extremely low ground pressures (2.5 psi compared to the 50 psi of a traditional wheeled skid-steer) and high traction, so it can be used in sensitive areas with minimal disturbance to the surrounding terrain.
