Team Arundo del Norte Meeting with Team Arundo, 10/9/97
Notes from Paul Jones and draft agenda

I have set up a meeting with representatives from the original Team
Arundo for Thursday, October 9th, the day before the CalEPPC meeting.
Though exact times and location have not been established, I think we
should meet here at EPA?s offices in San Francisco to accomodate our
friends who are flying up here in the morning from southern California.  We
will meet from about 11:00 am to some time in the late afternoon depending
on the final agenda.  Their contingent will be:
Valerie Vartanian, So. CA Agency Relations Manager, The Nature Conservancy
and current Chair of Team Arundo
Bill Leahy, Director, Southern California Area, The Nature Conservancy
Judy Mitchell, Director, Mission Resource Conservation District, and Chair
of the newly formed Team Arundo del Sureno (the ?southerners?)
Dick Zimbal, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Calsbad
Lindell Marsh, Attorney, involved in Arundo issues and worked on NCCP in
Santa Ana Region

Our draft agenda items are:
1)  Welcome and Introductions
2)  Overview of each of the regional team?s activities, organization,
participants
3)  Presenation on removal techniques and ongoing activities of Team Arundo
(Valerie)
4)  Mitigation Banking (using banks to promote Arundo eradication)
5)  Arundo removal as mitigation for permanent impacts to waters of the US
6)  Getting regional permit for invasive removal adopted statewide

I am very excited about this meeting and have high expectations for an
interesting and productive get-together.  Please let me know as soon as
possible if you plan to attend this meeting or if you have addtional
specific agenda items.
